Jamali Kamali
Use the mosque and tomb setting as one possible focus. Keep mosque and burial-space etiquette in mind, and do not assume the decorated tomb interior is open just because the grounds are accessible.
attraction · National Capital Territory
Choose a small route through Mehrauli’s scattered tombs, mosque remains, stepwell and later garden structures. The archaeological park rewards context and a clear plan more than an attempt to cover every ruin.
From research
Come if you enjoy reading a landscape across different periods or would value a knowledgeable heritage guide. If Qutub Minar has already filled the morning, choose two highlights and stop there; this is an additional walk, not a quick extension of the tower’s enclosure.
Know before you book: The park contains dispersed structures and varied ground conditions. Current admission, exact gate hours and access to individual interiors were not established by the sources checked. Arrange a daylight visit and verify your intended entrance and route.
Place highlights
Use the mosque and tomb setting as one possible focus. Keep mosque and burial-space etiquette in mind, and do not assume the decorated tomb interior is open just because the grounds are accessible.
Look at the repeated arcades and the descent toward the well from the permitted viewing areas. This is historic water infrastructure, not a place to climb walls or test unguarded edges.
The later structures associated with Thomas Metcalfe give a different layer to the landscape. Compare their intended leisure setting with the older tomb architecture around them.
The story behind the visit
Delhi Tourism describes Metcalfe’s nineteenth-century Dilkusha retreat as a reworking of older funerary buildings and their setting. Its account also explains the restoration of the boat house, circular structure and guest house. This is a useful reminder that a ruin’s present appearance may reflect reuse and recent conservation as well as its earliest building phase. Source ↗
Rajon ki Baoli dates to 1506 in the official tourism account. Its descending levels, arcades and rooms connect water storage with shelter and social space. Study that relationship from the allowed route; going farther down is not necessary to understand the design. Source ↗
The Jamali Kamali complex introduces another kind of memory through a mosque and associated tomb. Treat this funerary and religious context as part of the visit rather than using the buildings only as atmospheric ruins. Confirm access before making a particular interior the purpose of the trip. Dated visitor information
Delhi Tourism’s stepwell and mosque pages identify Qutub Minar on the Yellow Line as an approach station; the stepwell listing also names Saket. Plan a separate last-mile ride to your confirmed park gate and keep a return collection point. Official visitor information ↗

Choose two nearby highlights instead. The official itinerary lists multiple dispersed structures; an hour should be a selective walk, with arrival and return time additional. Source ↗
