See this place on the Delhi photo map

How to reach there

Akshardham · Blue Line

About 640 m by the mapped pedestrian route. Allow extra time for station access, crossings and screening.

Open walking directions

Auto meter reference: ₹30 first 1.5 km, ₹11/km thereafter. Black-and-yellow taxi meter reference: ₹40 first km, then ₹17/km non-AC or ₹20/km AC. Confirm shared-auto service and its per-person fare locally. Waiting, night and applicable extras are separate; app taxis supply their own quotes.

Delhi Transport Department fare reference

Akshardham’s complex and mandir entry are free; the exhibitions and water show use separate tickets. Phones, cameras, electronics and luggage are prohibited inside. The operator lists Monday closure, first entry at 10 am and last entry at 6:30 pm. Choose your visit scope before travelling, and allow separately for screening and deposits.

Choose the ticket scope before the journey

Choose a date to check the regular Monday closure. Confirm live access with the operator.

This comparison does not set the planner date or reserve admission.

Basic entry is free. Exhibition references: ₹260 adult, ₹210 senior, ₹160 child 4–11; water show: ₹110 adult/senior, ₹80 child 4–11. Under four free. These are separate ticket products.

Per-person published references, not a live quote. No booking or schedule is created. The planner hook keeps a basic visit only.

Route map: Akshardham Metro and visitor approach

What is free, and when can I enter?

Start with free complex entry and mandir darshan, then decide whether you want a paid programme. Buying an exhibition or show ticket is a different decision from entering the complex. Do not assume a tour package or online listing is necessary for the basic visit.

The operator’s visitor page lists Tuesday–Sunday opening, Monday closure, first entry at 10 am and last entry at 6:30 pm. Mandir hours extend beyond the last complex entry. The later indoor closing time is not permission to arrive at the outer gate after admission ends.

Keep each clock separate: complex admission, exhibition ticket sales and the evening show. A late arrival may leave time for one purpose but not all three. Check the current operator notice before travelling, especially around holidays or a visit that depends on an evening programme.

Which exhibition or water-show ticket do I need?

The exhibitions are sold as one package covering three presentations. The operator does not offer a separate individual-exhibition ticket. Its published references are ₹260 for adults aged 12+, ₹210 for seniors 60+, ₹160 for children 4–11 and free for children under four.

The Sahaj Anand water show is separate: ₹110 for adults and seniors, ₹80 for children 4–11, and free under four. The selector above combines only the ticket categories you choose. It is a per-person reference, not a reservation, live price feed or whole-outing budget.

Use the actual age category and confirm what the counter sells before payment. Keep optional purchases and transport outside this comparison. If you choose both programmes, do not mistake their combined ticket reference for a combined time slot or priority access.

Can I carry a phone, camera or bag inside?

Phones, cameras, other electronic items and luggage are on the operator’s prohibited list. Prepare your meeting and return arrangements before depositing a phone. Being able to navigate there with a device does not mean you can carry it through security.

The operator offers a visitor cloakroom with size restrictions and deposit conditions. Avoid bringing substantial luggage or valuables on the assumption that every item will be accepted. Its guidance excludes money and valuables from deposit, and belongings are left at the visitor’s risk.

Before entering a queue, check what happens to the particular belongings you have. Baby food and a water bottle appear on the operator’s allowed list subject to further checks; this does not remove other restrictions. For anything essential or unusual, ask the operator directly before leaving your base.

Keep the collection receipt and a recognisable meeting point with the group. Allow time after the visit to collect belongings and reach your actual transport. A pickup arranged for the instant a programme ends can become awkward when you still need to retrieve a phone.

How do I get from Akshardham Metro to the entrance?

Use Akshardham station on the Blue Line, then follow the current public approach. The operator describes a walk of approximately 350 metres to complex Gate 1. That is the attraction’s gate, not a verified instruction to use Metro Gate 1.

The map links the station area and visitor-approach area for orientation. Check the actual exit, crossings and signs on arrival. The dashed line does not survey the pavement or certify an accessible route, and the complex-centre pin is not a car drop-off.

For the return, decide the station or permitted pickup landmark before depositing your phone. Write down what you need, or keep a permitted paper brief. Check the useful return service if you plan to stay for the evening show; an after-sunset start does not establish that every onward connection will still suit you.

What should I wear, and which areas are accessible?

Read the dress rules before setting out: the operator requires the upper body and upper arms covered, with lower clothing extending below the knees. Check the actual requirements for everyone in the group rather than relying on a generic temple dress label.

For the mandir, follow footwear instructions and keep the shoe collection separate from your exit plan. The operator describes different access across the complex: its mandir page says the Mandir and Narayan Peeth are not wheelchair-accessible, while Gajendra Peeth allows wheelchair movement. A wheelchair facility at the entrance therefore does not promise access to every space.

If access to a particular area is essential, confirm that route and assistance directly before travel. Do not make a paid programme or a long visit compulsory until the group understands the seating, movement and return arrangements.

The mandir guide also provides architectural and devotional context. Treat this as a modern place of worship, inaugurated in 2005, rather than an ancient archaeological site. Observe the carvings and public spaces within the operator’s visitor arrangements.

How much time do the exhibitions and water show add?

The operator’s exhibition page lists three presentation durations, but these do not include queues, movement between spaces or the rest of the complex. A programme’s running time is not your time from arrival to departure.

The water show starts after sunset and is a 24-minute presentation in Hindi. Check the current start time rather than assuming one permanent clock time throughout the year. Waiting for sunset, seating, walking out and collecting belongings can use much more time than the presentation itself.

If the show matters most, build the day around that commitment and its return journey. If your onward departure is fixed, choose a smaller visit instead of relying on a short published show duration. Do not use the exhibition ticket-window closing time as the final moment to begin a full campus visit.

The planner template is deliberately a basic complex visit with a 120-minute editorial allowance. Selecting ticket options on this page does not add timed exhibitions or reserve a show in the planner. Add your own programme and queue allowance after checking the operator, or keep the paid elements out of this trip.

How should I save the visit and return connection?

Preview Akshardham as one independent stop. Review the actual date in the Delhi planner, then check your starting area and final connection before applying. Choosing a ticket category here does not change the itinerary’s date or cost model.

Use the area-day builder to place it on a different day from Old Delhi or a south-Delhi main visit. There is no short walking circuit joining Akshardham to Lotus Temple. Both having Monday closure is a reason to review dates, not to put both into every other day.

Before depositing your phone, keep the return landmark and essential guide notes in a form you can use. The downloadable HTML brief is useful reading; it is not admission, a live Metro timetable or an offline navigation app.

    Questions before you go

    Is Akshardham entry free?

Basic complex entry and mandir darshan are free. The exhibitions package and water show have separate tickets and schedules.

Can I take my mobile phone into Akshardham?

The operator prohibits mobile phones, cameras and other electronics inside. Read the cloakroom conditions and arrange the return meeting point before depositing a device.

Does an exhibition ticket include the water show?

No. Treat the three-exhibition package and water show as separate tickets. The selector provides a reference for the categories selected, not a booking.

Does choosing the water show add it to my itinerary?

No. The linked planner preview is a basic Akshardham visit. Programme timing, queues, deposits and the return connection need a separate allowance.
