Experience considers the reward and depth of this particular stop. Visitor friendliness considers practical ease: arrival, booking, physical demands, cost and flexibility. These are editorial judgements based on linked information, not visitor averages or a claim of a personal visit.

The blend uses (40 × Experience + 55 × Visitor friendliness) ÷ 95, rounded to the nearest half point. Missing sustainability does not affect it. A missing current visit score is not zero and has no blend.
A high score is not a safety clearance or a guarantee of step-free access. Food-stop scores concern the planned visit, not an untested meal. Read the scale and scope · Suggest a correction.

The story behind the visit
A castle name can suggest a single medieval fortress. Dublin Castle is better understood as a complex repeatedly adapted to the business of government. The official history places its construction in the early thirteenth century on a Viking settlement site, followed by centuries as an administrative headquarters. Source ↗
The handover to the new Irish government in 1922 changed the political meaning of the same place. Today the campus still functions as a state venue, which explains why public tourism sometimes gives way to government business. Its current EU Presidency closure is a real planning constraint, not just a closed ticket desk: the operator specifies the campus. For a later visit, choose the official guided or State Apartments offer actually available rather than assuming every historic part is included. Source ↗

That distinction is worth keeping: looking around the castle area and booking a managed visit are different experiences.
