Choose the Russborough experience first, then walk a suitable section of the existing Blessington Greenway. Keep the return explicit and distinguish current paths from proposed extensions.

How this day fits together
This is a west-Wicklow alternative to the Glendalough valley or an exposed mountain walk. Russborough supplies an architectural or parkland focus, while a section of the Blessington Greenway adds time beside the wider landscape. The plan does not require a full linear walk followed by an improvised return.
Make the house-tour decision early because the published programme may shape the order. A house tour, parkland ticket, parking charge and individual activity are different decisions. Use the estate’s current information to choose what you actually want rather than treating every facility on its map as included in one ticket.
The greenway visit is deliberately described as a section or an out-and-back. Agree where to turn around or how to return before leaving the transport base. The planner’s ninety-minute walking allowance is an editorial choice for a flexible visit, not a measured complete route or a promise of end-to-end access.
Your starting sequence
Pins are place references, not measured routes or reserved parking. Use the individual guides and current directions for each entrance and connection.
Visit allowance: 120 minutes, excluding transfers, meals and queues.
Arrival: Use Russborough’s official arrival information for the visitor entrance near Blessington. A walk ending nearby does not automatically deliver you to the correct admission point.

Choose a section of the existing linear greenway with an explicit turnaround or return arrangement. The road crossings and footpath sections need attention; do not assume proposed extensions are open.
Visit allowance: 90 minutes, excluding transfers, meals and queues.
Arrival: Use the published start at the Avon area, then check the actual entrance and current signs. Arrange parking or the public-transport connection for your chosen start and finish.
Some visitors will want the interior and its collections; others will prefer grounds and a shorter visit outdoors. Choose the main purpose and check the actual programme for the day. If the tour you want is unavailable, make a deliberate alternative rather than arriving with an assumed booking.
Plan a meal or café break separately. Venue hours, food service and dietary arrangements belong to the specific provider. If the outdoor part of the day is shortened by weather, a prechecked house visit may still provide a focus, but it does not make every estate activity available.
Walk the existing route, then return
Use the tourism body’s current description for the established Blessington walk. It includes road-footpath sections and crossings; it should not be presented as an entirely segregated lakeside trail. Future greenway proposals do not change the route that is available for this plan.
The two map pins are reference locations, not measured walking entrances or reserved parking bays. Check the actual start point and local signs, then choose a turnaround that leaves a comfortable return. Avoid extending the walk simply because a map makes the next piece of shoreline look close.
Planning questions
Does this include a complete loop around Blessington Lakes?
No. It uses a chosen section of the existing greenway, with a turnaround or separately arranged return. Proposed wider extensions are not assumed open.
Are all Russborough activities included?
No. Check house, parkland, parking and activity arrangements with the operator; the planner makes no booking.
Is the walk entirely traffic-free?
Do not assume so. The published existing route includes road-footpath sections and crossings.
Keep a flexible day
Preview the starting plan and explicitly apply it when ready. Remove or reorder stops, save a named copy, share the exact selection or print a guide with a QR return link. The planner makes no transport or admission booking.
